In addition to healthy teeth, many of our patients look for radiant white teeth. However, daily (eating) habits - whether through excessive consumption of coffee, black tea, red wine, or nicotine - often leave behind unpleasant discolouration on the teeth, which can only be removed by professional bleaching (= teeth whitening). Acidic foods such as citrus fruits, alcohol, or soft drinks additionally attack the tooth enamel and often result in deep-seated discolouration. In this case, bleaching methods alone are not sufficient as the discolouration penetrated the tooth and cannot be removed easily. The only remedy is veneers or crowns.
Bright white teeth not only signal health but also beauty and aesthetics.
There are different ways to make teeth radiantly white. However, all methods use active oxygen in different concentrations to lighten the teeth. We offer professional bleaching, which can only be carried out in a dental practice. Cosmetic bleaching methods and products from the drugstore work with very low concentrations of bleaching gel and are much less efficient. In our practice, specially trained prophylaxis assistants use a high-dose hydrogen peroxide solution under dental supervision. To ensure the best results, it is important to check that all teeth are healthy before bleaching. Before any whitening procedure, professional teeth cleaning should be performed.
We use the renowned ZOOM bleaching system from Philips, of which there are two variants:
How long the whitening lasts depends on the quality and intensity of oral hygiene, regular professional cleaning, and care. Of course, the individual dietary habits of each person also play a major role. If you care for your teeth carefully and conscientiously and regularly have them professionally cleaned (prophylaxis), you can benefit from professional teeth whitening for months or even years.
If you have any further questions about bleaching, please do not hesitate to contact our practice staff.

Internal bleaching for root-treated teeth
If a single front tooth appears grey, it is usually dead or has already undergone root canal treatment. In this case, internal bleaching, which lightens the tooth from the inside, is an option. The first step is to clean the tooth under a microscope. The bleaching gel is then placed inside the tooth and remains there for about a week until the desired whitening effect is achieved. After that, the tooth is finally sealed with a new composite filling. The costs for internal bleaching are about 175,- € plus costs for the filling. How long the whitening lasts depends on the quality and intensity of oral hygiene, regular professional cleaning, and care.
